Ice times are being finalized and exact details will be communicated in the coming weeks. Tryouts will generally proceed on the following dates:
U12AA to U16AA tryouts will run from about August 23 to September 1st, but there may be some final exhibition games over the Labour Day weekend. U12B to U16B tryouts will start shortly after, with U14B possibly starting a few days later.
The U9 to U11 Pathways sort-outs will start about September 9th.
The U18AA tryout will likely begin around September 20 to 23, with final dates to be determined once the U18AAA tryout and junior dates are confirmed.
Mandatory Body Contact Clincs
Mandatory contact clinics for incoming U14 players, and older players who have never taken a body contact clinic, will be held before tryouts during the week of August 19th . You may request an exemption if you participated in U14AAA tryouts or have proof of taking a contact clinic before.
Home Association Registration:
Please ensure that you also register with your home association (Ottawa East, Ottawa Centre, West End, Canterbury , South End). Players will not be allowed on the ice for try-outs unless they are also registered with their home association. You can register for Sting tryouts now, even if your home association has not opened its registration process.
Meet the Coach and Try-out Jersey Handout Night:
Meet the Coach and Try-out Jersey Handout Night is Wednesday August 14, 2024, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm, at the Canterbury Community Centre. – This is an opportunity to pick up try-out jerseys and get your questions answered about try-outs and/or our association.
Players who are new to the Sting, or who have otherwise ordered replacement try-out jerseys, should either attend or have someone pickup their jerseys. Any jerseys not picked up will be made available 30 mins prior at the first try-out session.
A reminder, you must have both a black and a white try-out jersey with matching numbers that have been assigned to you by the Sting for try-outs (Goalies need only one jersey). If this is your first tryout with the Sting, your jerseys are provided free of charge. If you need replacement tryout jerseys, please indicate that during the registration process, and add the replacement jersey cost to your order.
