Welcome to the 2024-2025 Ottawa Sting U13AA tryouts. I, Brett McGary, along with Richard Seguin, will be your U13 Executive Liaisons during tryouts. We will be your main points of contact throughout tryouts. Please do not hesitate to reach out.
Start Date: The tryout ice-assignments, and release schedule, are at the bottom of this email. The AA team is expected to be formed by August 30
th, 2024, with some releases before as we go through the tryout process. Released players will be invited to continue the tryout process to the next level with Sting or Golden Knights, depending on where you live. At each step, you will receive clear communication to guide you and your player through the process.
Tryout Jerseys: Please do not show up to the first tryout without both tryout jerseys! For those of you who did not attend the tryout jersey night, an assigned jersey will be available for pickup at the first ice session, if you communicate in advance. For the entire tryouts, your player will be identified by their tryout jersey number. Please ensure that you have a white and black tryout jersey with corresponding numbers, and that I have the correct number for your player. It is your players responsibility to bring both jerseys to all tryout sessions. Please check that your player has the two jerseys with matching numbers before jersey night.
Schedule: The full tryout schedule can be found in the calendar for U13AA on the Ottawa Sting website or with this
LINK. Specific assignments are below. Note, not all players will be required to attend at all sessions listed in the calendar for your cohort. Your player will be assigned specific days and times to attend.
Volunteers: We will need volunteers to swing-doors (on the opposite bench than your player), be trainers, and monitor rooms. Please let me know if you can assist.
Goalie Evaluation Sessions: There is also a goalie skills assessment that only goalies are required to attend.
For U13AA and U13B goalies this will be on August 25th from 10:15 am to 11:15 am at Wakley Areana.

While tryouts can be a stressful time, the process is meant to place every player at the proper level for their development. It is important that your player be well rested and hydrated for them to perform at their best. This is the start of their season and will set the tone for the season ahead.
We hope that your player enjoys their tryout experience and has fun while out on the ice. Know that we have an exceptional coaching staff at all levels, who will ensure all kids have a great season.
