Hello and Welcome to U15AA Tryouts!
We know this can be a stressful time for many so we will try to communicate as much information as possible.
Please note that all communications regarding the tryout process should be done with me, the liaison for U15. I will be there for the tryout sessions, and I will check you in so don’t hesitate to come and ask any questions or send me an email.
An email regarding tryouts from Coach Binks will be coming out shortly.
The schedule for tryout is available on the Ottawa Sting website, U15 has its own dedicated space where updates and schedules can be found:
http://ottawasting.com/index.php?team_id=183801.
Not all players will be participating in every tryout session. Players who will be sitting out on a particular day will receive a separate email so please read all your emails and check your spam folders. If you receive an email that you are sitting out of a session, you do not have to attend.
Please ensure that you have registered with intent to participate in competitive tryouts with your home association. The confirmation email will have come from Hockey Canada Spordle. Please print a copy of have it avaiable electronically on your first tryout day.
For those who were not able to pick up your jerseys last week, I will have them available when you check in for your first tryout session. If you need to pay for them, please bring $50 cash (exact change).
For every tryout session that you are participating in:
- Arrive one hour before the start of the ice time.
- The dress code for tryouts: dress pants/shorts and a golf shirt. No jeans, no ball caps, no crocs. Dress shoes or running shoes are acceptable.
- Athletes are responsible for their own dryland warm up and can change into appropriate attire as needed.
- Bring both your black and white Ottawa Sting jerseys with the numbers that have been assigned to you.
- Bring water bottles and your back up sticks.
- Cell phones should be left at home or turned off before entering the changeroom.
- Be in the changeroom fully dressed, with helmets on 10 minutes before each session. The coaches will give instructions to the entire team at this time.
- No parents in changeroom except for the chaperones/coaches – always adhere to the two deep rule.
In addition,
we need some parent volunteers to assist with the sessions. Please email me or check in with me upon arrival. For each session we need:
- Someone to run the clock
- Two parents on each forward door (you cannot be on the bench with your own child).
- At least one trainer who will be on the bench.
Since we will have four goalies at each session, the goalies not on the ice will operate the defence doors.
Also, a reminder went out earlier but there is a contact clinic tomorrow, August, 22
nd, 7pm, Richcraft Sensplex, Canadian Tire rink for anyone who hasn’t already participated or anyone who would like a refresher. Just show up to the rink.
In addition there is a separate goalie evaluation session which will be held on Sunday, August 25
