Ottawa Sting Major Bantam B defend their Championship at Roger Senecal Memorial Tournament!

2013-12-21

Having won this tournament last year as Minor Bantams, desire for a repeat performance was high at this year’s Roger Senecal Memorial Tournament held Dec 5-7, 2013.

Working hard, playing as a team and focusing on a common goal brought this team through the tournament round robin and semi-finals undefeated!  Facing the Embrun Ice Dogs in the finals, Sting’s team play, heart and stamina brought them a well-earned and very exciting 3-2 win in double overtime!!

Stamina and heart were definitely key in this game! After a tough 3 periods, they went into OT and played a 10-minute 5 on 5 then on to a 10-minute, sudden death 4 on 4 period.  A blistering shot from the point from defenseman, Ben Ernewein, with 1.44 left on the clock brought the win home for a very excited team of players and Coaches.

This win may have been especially sweet after the Toronto Wolverine’s RoadWins Cup two weeks ago, where the team made it to the finals and faced a heartbreaker 5-4 loss in the dying minutes of the game.

Congratulations Ottawa Sting Major Bantam B players and Coaches on tipping the scales the other way this time for a great tournament win at Blackburn's Roger Senecal Memorial Tournament!
