Further information regarding the Sting U11A/AA tryouts is contained herein. Please read carefully as there is lots of pertinent information regarding the tryout process. A reminder that tryout schedules are also posted on the Ottawa Sting website under Master Schedule.
First Two Tryout Sessions – May 3rd and May 4th
Tryouts on Saturday May 3
rd at Tom Brown Arena and Sunday May 4
th at Ray Friel Pad 3 will focus on skills and small area games-based assessments. Each player will participate in tryouts for one hour on each day.
The coach is planning on running the following drills during these tryouts:
-2 vs 2 Corner Battle Tag Up
-4 Line Passing Drill
-Harvard 2 on 2 or 3 on 3
-Pass, Pivot, Pass, Shoot
Teams A and B will be on the ice at 8:00am on Saturday, and 8:15am on Sunday:

Third Tryout Session - May 8th Tom Brown Arena at 5:00pm
This two-hour ice time block will be used for intrasquad games. Format and rosters for this tryout will be released following the weekend.
May 9th Goalie Sessions – Amped Sports Lab at 5:00pm
This session is for goalies only.
Fourth (May 10), Fifth (May 11) and Sixth (May 12) Tryout Sessions
More information will be provided as tryouts progress.
Player Jerseys
Please verify the jersey numbers and listed positions and inform the liaison if your player’s jersey number isn’t listed, or if their listed position is incorrect. It is your player’s responsibility to bring both jerseys to every tryout session. Also, please have your player wear solid black or white socks if they have them.
As mentioned in the first email, we ask that you check in with the liaison at the first tryout to ensure that we have the correct jersey number for each player. Please arrive a minimum of 45 minutes before the first tryout so there is adequate time for check in.
Some players will be assigned new jerseys based on requests that were made during the online registration. If you did not pay for your player’s jerseys during online registration, please bring a cheque for $50 made out to Ottawa Sting Minor Hockey Association, or cash. Goalies receiving one practice jersey should bring $25 for the single jersey if they did not pay during registration.
Releases
First player releases are expected the evening of May 9
th and final releases are planned for May 11
th.
