Welcome to U15AA Tryouts

Welcome to the 2024-2025 Ottawa Sting U15AA tryouts! I am Mijin Kim, the U15 Liaison for this season. I will be your main point of contact throughout tryouts, and available throughout the season as required. Please do not hesitate to reach out at any time. 
 
This email is to give you an overview and expectations for the approaching tryout sessions. 
 
Start Date: Your tryout series will start on Saturday August 24th. The AA team is expected to be formed by September 3^rd. At that point, released players will be invited to continue the tryout process to the next level with Sting or Golden Knights, depending on where you live. At each step, you will receive clear communication to guide you and your player through the process.
Tryout Jerseys: For the entire tryouts, your player will be identified by their tryout jersey number. Please ensure that you have a white and black Sting tryout jersey with corresponding numbers, and that I have the correct number for your player. If your player does not have a set of Sting tryout jerseys, please attend the Sting Open House on August 14^th at the Canterbury Community Centre between 6:30 and 8:00 pm.Should you not be able to pick up a tryout jersey that evening, please arrange for someone else to pick it up, or advise me by email and I will have a set available for your player at the first tryout session. It is your players responsibility to bring both jerseys to all tryout sessions. Please check that your player has the two jerseys with matching numbers before jersey night.
Schedule: The full tryout schedule for U15AA can be found at http://ottawasting.com/team_schedule.php?team_id=183801.  You will receive more specific communication ahead of the start of tryouts.  Note, not all players will be required to attend at all sessions listed in the calendar for your cohort.  Your player will be assigned specific days and times to attend. All players will most likely attend the initial sessions, unless otherwise noted.  
Goalie Evaluation Sessions: There is also a goalie skills assessment that only goalies are required to attend, with more details to follow. For U15, the goalie evaluations will be on August 25, 2024, from 9:15 am to 2:15pm, with time assignments to follow. 
Contact Clinics: All players, other than goalies at U15, are required to attend one checking session prior to trying out with the Ottawa Sting if they have not done so before. If your player did not play with Sting last season or has never taken a checking clinic, please advise me asap and they will be assigned to the contact clinic on August 22, 7pm, Richcraft Sensplex.

While tryouts can be a stressful time, the process is meant to place every player at the proper level for their development. It is important that your player be well rested and hydrated in order for them to perform at their best. This is the start of their season and will set the tone for the season ahead. 
We hope that your player enjoys their tryout experience and has fun while out on the ice. Know that we have an exceptional coaching staff at all levels, who will ensure all kids have a great season.
