New HEO rule regarding discipline for non-compliance with COVID-19 safety protocols

Good afternoon OSMHA Coaches, Volunteers, Players and Parents,
 
We received the news that HEO has added a new appendix regarding discipline for non-compliance with COVID-19 safety protocols. This new discipline is now in effect and will stay in effect until the pandemic/state of emergency is declared over.
 
Any OSMHA member failing to comply with Province of Ontario, Health Unit, Municipality or Facility, HEO and OSMHA COVID-19 protocols will be subject to discipline. The member will be removed from all sanctioned hockey activities pending a District hearing. Outlined below is the HEO suspension guideline:
 

PANDEMIC RELATED SUSPENSIONS	FIRST OFFENCE	SECOND OFFENCE
Fail to comply with any order* relating to the COVID-19 Pandemic	Suspended until a District hearing (Minor Hockey) or in the case of Junior, a League Hearing.	Suspended from all hockey until a hearing with HEO Appeals and Discipline

*For the purpose of this section, “order” includes, but is not limited to any, Provincial or Public Health unit, Municipal, Facility, Hockey Canada, HEO, OSMHA Return to Hockey guidance, directive or rule in relation to the pandemic.
 
The Return to Hockey and COVID-19 Emergency Response plans are regularly updated and can be found in the Risk and Safety section of the website. These new guidelines will be included and uploaded this week. Please also remember to accurately fill in your screening forms before every practice as Ottawa Public Health is tightening the rules on this element as well.
